This is a rarer pale Pink Killiecrankie Topaz with a silky opalescent appearance. This gem was faceted by a Hobart local cutter who has recently retired. I’ve been fortunate to acquire some of his beautiful work over the years.
Killiecrankie Diamond is Topaz from Flinders Island Tasmania. They get their nickname from when they were discovered by voyagers in the early 1800s they were originally thought to be Diamonds because of their beautiful light and sparkle but were later tested as topaz. Stories of the gemstone date back throughout some of the earliest generations of Tasmanian Aboriginal people living within the area.

Clean behind the stone every now and again with warm water and a dash of dish liquid with a soft toothbrush. A jewellery polishing cloth can be used on the metal.
